My back, shoulders, and chest are very tight today and it showed with my pressing. I think the push ups kept me a bit more limber than I initially thought. Quads have some DOMS. I need to some tissue work with them tonight. Rowing strength is progressing nicely.

Took some forced time off and I am glad I’m back. I had a short week with some travel that did me in and then the university gym was closed the following week for renovations. I’m done with pushups, ending at 490. I could have gone longer but I was just too busy having fun. I’ll be restarting with some tweaks to the rules come Sept. 1.

I need to get back to climbing. Once August is done and my weekends settle down it’s the first activity I’m adding back into my weekly routine. Until then, some people doing some bouldering in South Africa.

Rolling my shoulders helped a ton. My legs also feel much better after a session with my PVC roller. Calves are still tight as are my hips, but there is only so much rolling I can do at once with that pipe. I still need to do my pushups.

Where the trail ends

Red Bull is a company I really like. They put out a good (albeit pricey) product and sponsor people to pursue activities that in the past would have gotten the athlete killed, shunned by society, financially broke, or all three. Mountain biking is one of those activities. I will full endorse any alternative sport and given the chance, go balls to the wall with it — save one. Mountain biking, especially the kind these guys are doing, is crazy. Of all the “do epic shit” things people could do this ranks in the top ten.

Erg felt smooth and wasn’t nearly as hard as it was when I first started. The squats felt good as well. My left elbow gave me some trouble, which I attribute to the massive amounts of pushups. My shoulders are still tight and I really need to up the amount of mobility/tissue work even more. My ankle is stable as well. the calf raises didn’t irritate anything.

To anyone rolling their shoulders, what are you using? Tennis ball? Foam roller? I need to get some major tightness out of my shoulders and pecs.

Shoulders felt terrible during the first set of presses. After grabbing a foam roller and working on my back, pecs, and shoulders as well as doing a bunch of band dislocates between sets things were better. With all the pushups I really need to up my shoulder mobility and overall tissue quality.
