Feeling really good. The erg left me feeling great, not nearly winded, and if I didn’t have pressing plans I could have stayed on there for much longer. Bench felt solid after the first set. Aux bench felt smooth and fast. Still need to get the majority of my pushups in for the day.

I was really short on time today hence the abbreviated session. The pikes felt better than they have since being back. Leg press felt pretty heavy today for some reason. My ankle started to feel a bit pinchy on the calf raises s0 I stopped at 25 each.

I liked facepulls a lot more than the band pull aparts. I’ll be adding them into every session to help balance my shoulders. Pullups are once again becoming a joke which is great. Time to either go to sets of 7 or to start adding weight. I wanted 25 reps of pikes but only got 15 because my abs are still really sore from Sunday; pinpoints a major flaw. Weighted in at 188.5 this weekend.

I combined days two and three today due to shifting schedules this past week. I delayed a session on Monday due to fatigue from the weekends events and work. Wednesday didn’t offer a viable time during the gyms open hours. Tomorrow I will be out to dinner with my parents, celebrating both of their birthdays. On Saturday I will get the 3.4 in allowing a rest day on Sunday before getting back to normal again on cycle four. To make up for the low volume today, I’ll be adding additional lower body volume during 3.4.

Overall, I’m glad to be back lifting with some conditioning on the side. I’m filling out medium shirts across the shoulders again and my arms feel bigger (thanks 5000 pushups in the month of July). I need to dial in my diet and up the amount of veggies I eat.

Pushup Challenge

In addition to my other training goals I’ve taken up a pushup challenge issued by my friend KM. The rules:

Rules
1. You do not talk about the pushup challenge
2. You do not talk about the pushup challenge!
3. Contest starts July 1, 2012
4. Start by doing 10 pushups the first day and add 10 for every day thereafter
5. Pushups do not have to be consecutive (i.e. you can break them into sets)
6. Honor system – If you miss a day, be honest about it
7. You don’t have to post every single day that you do them
8. That said, if you miss, post it here so I can update
9. I’ll update who is still in the contest every Monday
10. I know half of you will forget on Sunday
11. Last man (or woman) standing wins

So far we’re ten days in and I’ve done a total of 550 pushups. Sets of 30, which were once a challenge, are becoming easy. It’s all about not breaking the chain.
